About

The Smalltown Circus was officially founded in 2021. At 20 years old, Sabrina was having difficulties walking due to a congenital condition that causes her spine and pelvis to try to fuse together. Her difficulties walking were becoming greater and greater until she began learning aerial silks in college. When the pandemic hit, she came back to her small town with her silks and had nowhere to train. Her issues walking become worse again until she asked Joe Walker, the owner of Walker American Martial Arts if she could rig her silks and train in his weight room. In 2020, we began adding apparatuses in the room, training others, and gaining interest. We finished converting the space from a weight room to an aerial gym in 2021. We started with one silk, 2 lyras, and a few panel mats. Today, we have various aerial apparatuses and classes.

During college, Sabrina was introduced to aerial silks. When the pandemic began, came home from college to nowhere to train until she asked Joe Walker if she could train in his weight room. Sabrina began training in WAMA and others began to gain interest. Sabrina combined her tumbling, dance, and aerial experience to bring these activities to her small town. In 2021, she officially opened The Smalltown Circus to continue training others, doing what she loves, and continuing the activity that kept her mobile with her hope that it will help others with similar issues.

“I honestly do not think I would be walking today without finding aerial.” – Sabrina Wiesbrock
